New Zealand
North Island
New Zealand's North Island, with the country’s main gateway Auckland, offers a fascinating blend of sophisticated cities and magnificent scenery. Its northern coastline, within easy reach of Auckland, is dotted with lovely islands and sweeping peninsulas. Its bush areas are mostly sub-tropical, with mangrove swamps and hardwood rainforests, and home to an astonishing array of wildlife. At its centre are the hot springs and geysers of Rotorua, Lake Taupo, beautiful national parks and a range of volcanic mountains. On its southern tip lies New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington.
